Volunteer role
Sustainable Technology Researcher, Water Systems
Steward the study of clean-water technology so future Netist communities can live free of dependence on municipal supply.
Water is life. The communities Netism is building will need clean water that stands on its own, independent of municipal systems and the fragility that comes with them. This role holds the technical knowledge that makes that independence real. The person who takes it studies how water is gathered, purified, and reused, then turns that study into systems and teaching the whole community can rely on. It is quiet, patient work, and it sits close to the survival and dignity of everyone who will one day call these places home.
What you would do
- Research emerging water technologies and track where the field is moving.
- Evaluate water systems for off-grid use and recommend the ones worth building.
- Design water recycling systems that return every drop to use.
- Write technical reports and educational content that others can act on.
- Create video explainers on water science for the wider community.
- Work alongside the land and sustainability teams so the systems fit the places they serve.
What you bring
You have a real footing in water science, environmental engineering, or a closely related field, whether from formal training or years of hands-on practice. You read technical material closely and you write clearly enough that a non-specialist can follow you. You think in systems, and you hold the patience to test an idea before you recommend it to people who will depend on it. Above all you care about the work itself, the slow building of communities that can care for themselves. This is a volunteer commitment, offered as stewardship of the tradition rather than for pay, so it asks for steadiness and follow-through over time.
How to express interest
If this is your work, tell us. Netism is a nonprofit spiritual organization, and no one here draws a salary. We cover every expense tied to the role, and the hours you give become real change in real lives. This is part of changing how humanity relates to itself, to the earth, and to the sacred.
