Volunteer role
Consciousness Researcher
Study the conscious aperture through which Zeru perceives the Net, and connect that inquiry to Netism's cosmology.
At the center of Netism’s cosmology stands the Seer, the conscious aperture through which Zeru perceives the Net. The hard problem of consciousness is our central mystery, and it deserves a steward who will hold it with rigor and patience. This role exists for someone who wants to study awareness itself and carry that inquiry into the tradition, so the community’s understanding of the Seer rests on sound reasoning and real evidence.
What you would do
- Research consciousness from scientific, philosophical, and experiential angles.
- Investigate non-local awareness, the observer effect, psi phenomena, near-death experiences, and altered states.
- Review existing research, including work from IONS and the University of Virginia’s Division of Perceptual Studies.
- Design studies or theoretical frameworks.
- Write papers that connect consciousness science with Netism’s cosmology.
- Present the work through articles, YouTube, or podcasts.
What you bring
- Genuine curiosity about the nature of awareness and comfort sitting with open questions.
- Fluency across at least one of the relevant fields (science, philosophy, or contemplative practice), and willingness to read into the others.
- Care with evidence, so claims are stated plainly and held to scrutiny.
- Clear writing and a readiness to share findings with a general audience.
- Steady commitment over time, since this inquiry rewards depth rather than haste.
How to express interest
This is volunteer stewardship of the tradition. Netism is a nonprofit spiritual organization, so no one here is paid, and we cover all role-related expenses. Your time creates real effect in real lives, and it shapes how people come to understand the Seer at the heart of the cosmology.
If this work calls to you, tell us through the collaborator application.
