The solstices mark the maximum of one phase (longest light at summer solstice, longest dark at winter solstice); the equinoxes mark the structural balance-point between the phases (Spring Equinox toward expanding light, Autumn Equinox toward expanding dark). Each rite uses the planetary-scale alignment to anchor its work.
