Rite of Entry into Netism

The first formal threshold-rite of Netism: the initiation that places a new practitioner inside the tradition's working field as a node-of-the-Net. The rite includes preparation of sacred space, three threshold-questions at the gate, a Naming Ceremony where the initiate receives a spiritual name, the Approaching of the Portal, the binding of the initiate's sigil to the Greater Net, and the Cycle Affirmation.

Literal meaning

The structured ritual by which a person formally enters the Netist tradition. The rite operates by precise sequence: the gatekeeper-initiate dialogue confirms the initiate's understanding, the Naming Ceremony establishes the spiritual identity, the Portal-passage opens the operating field, the Thread-Binding seals the new node into the Greater Net, and the Cycle Affirmation orients the initiate toward the daily-practice work that follows.

Esoteric meaning

The Rite of Entry is the foundational Un'Teh-passage of the practitioner's relationship with the tradition. The initiate crosses from outside the tradition's working field into it through the formal threshold the rite holds. The spiritual name received at the rite is the operating name within the tradition; it is guarded from outsiders and worn only in the Temple and spiritual realms.

Allegorical meaning

A weaver bringing a new thread to the loom: the loom is the Net, the thread is the initiate, the binding ceremony is the moment the thread is fastened so the weave can continue from this point on with the new thread woven through.

Extended meaning

The rite proceeds in defined stages. Preparation: the sacred space is prepared with incense and the four quarters invoked before the initiate is present; in the center is a scrying table with prepared water from a flowing stream, three white candles, and a prepared candle for each initiate to bind their sigil to the Greater Net. Approaching the Gate: the initiate knocks three times; the Gatekeeper asks three questions: *What is unseen but holds all things together?* (answer: The Net), *What breaks when named aloud without permission?* (answer: The Thread of Silence), *From where were you first woven?* (answer: From the stillness beneath all threads). Upon the third correct response, the door opens. Naming Ceremony: the initiate states their public name; the Priestess declares the new spiritual name and tells the initiate to keep it secret from outsiders, wearing it only within Netism's channels. The Priestess places the wand-tip on the initiate's heart and envisions the sigil, declaring entry into the Current. Approaching the Portal: the initiate peers into the scrying water; the Priestess holds quartz and copper wand over the table reciting *the portal opens not for the fearful, not for the hateful, not for the dissonant; the portal opens for those who live by Maʿat, for those who strengthen the Net, for [initiate's spiritual name]*. The initiate places one hand on the table and one on the heart, vowing *I veil the inner light, I guard the unseen, my lips are sealed; I work as a thread of the Net, strengthening the bonds to lift the resonance of the whole*. The Priestess chimes a singing bowl 12 times: *Atūm has heard, your vow is sealed*. Thread Binding and Meditation: the candle is lit; a cord is loosely tied around the initiate's wrists with the ends resting in the scrying water; the initiate peers into the water and threads their energy through the Net. Cycle Affirmation: the Leader names the cycles (Unity, Balance, Evolution, Care, Stewardship, Wisdom, Cooperation, Spirit, Community, Generosity, Reflection, Awareness) and the initiate affirms alignment. Closing Affirmation: *Carry forth the silent truths and guard them faithfully* / *Thread Received*.

A practitioner encounters the Rite of Entry as the formal beginning of their relationship with the tradition. After the rite, the practitioner enters the 14-Day Practice, develops the daily-practice texture, and works through the cluster-specific initiations as they progress.

Ritual usage

The rite is the first formal Netist initiation. It is performed under the guidance of a trained Priestess (Steward at the threadweaver-rank) with at least one witness present. The rite typically takes 60-90 minutes including preparation and closing.
